Introducing our Spirit of Graduation Whisky, the perfect way to honour and remember your journey through University. This 12-year-old whisky is aged to perfection. The luxurious velvet packaging pays homage to the iconic red gowns that all of Scotland’s ancient universities’ students have the right to wear, but the University of St Andrews is the only institution that continues the tradition to present day. The famous bright red gown is worn casually, for special occasions, and for the weekly chapel service and Pier Walk. Students process from St Salvator’s Chapel to the pier to commemorate the rescue of The Janet crew by student John Honey in January 1800. Worn progressively lower, and eventually off both shoulders, the tradition represents students growing wiser each year of their studies, shrugging off the support of the University until they are ready to swap the red gown for a graduation robe.

Crafted with utmost care and expertise at Scotland’s oldest working distillery, The Glenturret, this remarkable spirit embodies the essence of tradition and refinement. Fewer than sixty carefully selected casks come together to create The Glenturret 12 Years Old - crafted by hand and forming the heart of our range. American oak casks drive the salted caramel sweetness whilst European oak layers the dried fruits and spices leading to a full rich single malt at 46.4% ABV.

Tasting notes:

Rich Raisins and Sultanas open, Vanilla and Cinnamon follow, Ginger and hints of Nutmeg are warming. Hedgerow Fruits and Maturing Oak closes.

The whisky is a one-off cask strength 12-year-old Glen Elgin single malt, taken from a single cask, available and labelled for each of the Classes of 2022, 2021, 2020 and 2023.

The single cask for each year will only produce around 300 bottles, with each bottle being uniquely numbered.
